Brazil

Living in Brazil is a great opportunity to visit places you wouldn't really think of going like Iguacu Falls or Bahia for example.  It is really cool to see things that I probably would not get the chance to see when I lived in New York.  On the Brazilian side of Iguacu falls, (other than visiting the falls) there is repelling, zip lining and boat trips by the falls.  There is also a bird park where you can hold a parrot or have a python on your neck.  In Bahia there is a church and they give ribbons that you can wear around your wrist called Fita do Bonfim da Bahia.  It is a memory and a wish ribbon.  Brazil has so many cool places and I can't wait to visit them!

Passion Project

I always had a passion for helping people and I've always been an animal lover.  I was excited about Brazil because I've always thought of the exotic animals in Brazil.  One day, when I was in 4th grade, I looked up endangered animals in Brazil.  The number of different names of animal species was crazy.  Then, a website caught my eyes.  I clicked on it.  There was a picture of a bird called the Hyacinth macaw.  15 years ago the species was down to only 1,500 birds left.  Then, a lady set up an project to try and save the species.  She successfully helped save 3,500 macaws.  This interested me and so I did a lot of things to raise money.  My friends and I did a bake sale (we raised 355 reais).  My passion helped me learn more about Brazil in a way.  It was/is really fun to discover more about the species.

Intro

I'm 11 years old and from New York City.  I lived there for 9 years, but then my family and I moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil.  I was a nervous wreck when we first moved, but after meeting people in my grade from orientation, I felt better.  There were a lot of things that I still had to get used to though.  Like, for example, in New York I did figure skating.  I loved it so much, but once we moved to Brazil, they did not have a rink.  But, I've always had a passion for horses, so I took up riding and stared jumping.     I'm an American girl, but I'm loving life in Brazil!
